Sudha is an experience designer by profession and at heart. If you follow her on Instagram, you’ll notice she’s an avid doodler and artist. Even her notes are visual!

Remote work is not new for Sudha - she started her first project at ThoughtWorks with a team in Hyderabad, while she was in Bangalore. Sudha built a strong relationship with the team through periodic travel and worked remotely otherwise. The pandemic however has meant that she hasn’t been able to do much travel for her recent project.

Sudha shares her flat with two other close friends. The three flatmates have their individual work corners in the house where they are most productive. Sudha juggles her time between her endless to-dos and colleagues in five different time zones. She uses Zoom to video conference, Mural to collaborate and Adobe XD to flesh out design ideas.

Sudha’s role makes it tough to have a predictable routine, so she’s worked out ways to make this remote work successful. To avoid burnout, she uses the pomodoro technique and recommends others to adopt it too. Since she has a tendency to get immersed in work, she sets explicit reminders to maintain healthy habits - drink water, walk around the house, stretch. A few lengthy breaths of fresh air in the balcony are a perfect remedy for claustrophobia. She recommends that if you are on calls for a major part of your role, prioritise them by criticality and space them out over the week so you leave yourself enough time to work!

Through remote-work Sudha has  found comfort and productivity working in her own space. It’s a perfect balance between her personal and professional life. Once things settle, she’ll prefer visiting the office only when she has to collaborate with people in ways that aren’t effective online.
